After 46 years in education and 33 as principal, Charles Hogan (known to his grandchildren as Pa) finally retired in May 2021. In September 2023, Steve insisted that it was him, not their son William, who acted as their tour guide on the Big Adventure, a.k.a. a once-in-a-lifetime-outside-the-US retirement trip to visit the ancestral homeland in Ireland.
